1. Best of the Best Workplace in the Americas

Human ResourcesIn 2008, Disc Graphics was named Best of the Best Workplaces in the Americas by the Printing Industries of America/Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (PIA/GATF). This is the culmination of five times being honored as part of an elite group of companies (2002, ’03, ’05, ’06, and’07) and now achieving the top spot of America’s printing companies.  

This honor is awarded to the company that provides a superior workplace, with a culture that supports employee development, creates opportunities to grow with the organization and helps employees to become the best of the best. The criteria for qualifying as a “superior workplace” includes: excellent management practices, providing employees with a comfortable and professional work environment, training and development opportunities, financial security, work-life balance, recognition and reward, health and wellness programs, and workplace health and safety.  It is management’s unwavering commitment to excellence and having a positive impact on the lives of others that produces a workplace worthy of best of the best recognition.


2. Community Service

Long Island CharityDisc Graphics believes in giving back to the community, not only because it’s where we do business, but because it’s where our employees live.  Giving to the community means giving to our employees.  Disc Graphics’ Community Service Committee targets charitable associations, organizes fundraisers, and determines service activities.  Our focus is based on what’s most important to the employees of Disc, as well as those programs that best benefit our local community.

The Committee understands that not everyone is able to devote the same time and dedication to community service activities.  While some people can more easily give their time, it’s more convenient for others to give money; and some are looking to do it all.

As a result of Disc Graphics’ dedication to community service, we’ve achieved a great deal, and been recognized for it.
  • Disc is the winner of the 2007 Converting Innovators Community Service Award in recognition of a company’s “doing well by doing good”.
  • Disc has raised over $6,500 in annual pledges for United Way of Long Island and received their “Best New Campaign Award”.
  • We’ve donated 500 lbs of food to Long Island Cares.
  • Disc Graphics was the top team fundraiser in Suffolk County for the American Diabetes Association Walk-a-thon by raising $4,230.
  • We sponsored a Charity Golf Outing that raised over $140,000 for Best Buddies New York!  Best Buddies pairs mainstream students with intellectually disabled students in middle schools and high schools to form one-on-one friendships.  It’s an international organization that doesn’t currently have the funding it needs to get a program fully running on Long Island.  This golf outing netted more than any other regional fundraising event for their organization, and allowed the Long Island chapter to expand its resources to reach more schools. The organization's founder, Anthony Kennedy Shriver, called it a “homerun hit”.  
  • Disc hosts a Blood Drive twice a year during the winter and summer, the hardest seasons to collect and keep the Long Island blood supply stocked.
  • We participate in the Salvation Army Angel Tree Program during the holiday season for Suffolk County residents.  Employees donate wrapped gifts selected from each child’s “wish list”.
  • Disc donated a truckload of corrugated boxes to our local St. Vincent DePaul organization.
